Your appointment

Appointments will generally be 1 hour (unless you choose 30 or 90 minutes) but sometimes may be slightly longer; always tell us if you need to be out by a certain time.

We will discuss your main health complaint alongside a range of questions surrounding many different aspects of your current and historical health.

Your consultation will be followed by a treatment using several acupuncture points that are specific to your diagnosis.

As your symptoms change and improve, your points prescription may change too.

Your Treatment

During the session, you’ll usually be asked to lie either face-down or on your back. You may also be asked to remove some clothes so I can access certain parts of your body. It is advisable to wear loose-fitting clothes that can be rolled up to the elbow and knees. Please make sure you have eaten something prior to your visit.

Acupuncture needles are exceptionally fine, some as thin as 0.15 mm. When these single-use, sterile needles are inserted, many people don’t feel anything. If you do feel a sensation from the needles, it is often a slight ache or deep tingling. I believe acupuncture should not be a painful experience, so once the needles are in, you should be able to relax for at least 20 minutes without any feeling of discomfort.

Your Prognosis

The number of treatments needed and over what period of time varies dramatically between patients. After your initial intake appointment, I will be able to give you my estimate. This will be repeatedly reassessed throughout your course of treatment. The effects of acupuncture are cumulative, and a course of acupuncture is always recommended. If you are coming for a chronic condition, the likelihood is you will need to commit to weekly treatments for a period of time to achieve long-term, sustainable effects.

At your first appointment we will discuss and agree on a treatment plan that will work for you to provide the best outcome, or you can book your appointment later.

If you aren’t sure what treatment you would like, just book for 30, 60, or 90 minutes, and we can agree on the day.

Feedback

We always value your feedback. It’s important that you feel cared for and the treatment works for you.

If you feel able to share your comments with others, that would be fantastic.

Your happiness and wellbeing is paramount.

Our clinic is tucked away in a quiet part of Edgerton, on the residential street, just off the main Halifax Road, where there is plenty of free and safe off-road parking. If you listen carefully, you will be able to hear all the birds singing.
What to expect

Before you arrive

If you book your first appointment online for acupuncture, you will be sent a form to complete. Some of the questions in this form seem strange, but it helps to diagnose the patterns of disharmony and helps to recommend the best treatment plan for you.

When you arrive, you will see our sign.

You can park outside on the provided driveway, or there is plenty of free and safe off-road parking.

If when you ring the doorbell, we don’t come immediately, it may be because we are still talking to a client, but we will be with you very soon.

We have two treatment rooms, which we tend to alternate working in, which means we have time to clear and air them between clients.

Where possible, please have something light to eat and drink if you are having a treatment of acupuncture; it prevents you from feeling lightheaded after the treatment.

Your appointment will be confirmed by your therapist prior to your treatment.

We specialise in offering out-of-hours appointments and being as flexible as possible to ensure you get the treatment you require when you require it.

If you would like to discuss a treatment plan before booking, we are always happy to hear from you.
